Hilda's world is upset as she faces the prospect of leaving her snow-capped birthplace for the city when her mother, an architect, is offered a job. As Hilda tries to make a case for staying where they are, she must find a way to befriend the tiny elves who have recently been causing trouble for the household, and at the same time, find out about the giant she keeps seeing at night.
