Li Jing is a commander at Chentang Pass near the shore of the East Sea. After a pregnancy of more than three years, his wife gives birth to a ball of flesh, from which emerges Nezha, a boy who can walk and talk at birth. The immortal Taiyi appears and gives the boy a magical gold ring and a ribbon of silk.
