Dolssa, a young gentlewoman with a gift that has made an obsessed friar label her a heretic, finds herself on the run to escape being burned at the stake. She is taken in by wily, charismatic peasant girl Botille, who with her sisters runs a tavern in a seaside town in Provensa, France. Dolssa's extraordinary healing power comes in useful, but the Friar Lucien is close to tracking her down.
