Having escaped the Wolfsschlucht, Earl Ciel Phantomhimve, his butler Sebastian, and the rest of the household abscond together with the Emerald Witch, taking refuge with an old family friend--Diedrich, the late Vincnet Phantomhive's schoolmate and confidant. Preparations are made for going home to England, but before they can leave they have to figure out what is wrong with the Undertaker, and why the usually jovial reaper seems so sullen.
