In North Korea, 1950, twelve-year-old Sora Pak and her eight-year-old brother, Youngsoo, find their lives changed forever when war between the North and South breaks out and a bombing leaves them all on their own. To survive, Sora must get herself and Youngsoo to South Korea alone, which means crossing dangerous rivers, mountain ranges, and territory occupied by the enemy--even through Pyongyang itself.
