Twelve-year-old Claudia's dad has walked out on her and her mother. While her mother is away on a business trip, Claudia stays with her grandmother and finds clues to the reason why he left in old family videos. And things take a turn, when he sends her a single puzzle piece--a clue that sends Claudia and her grandmother on an adventure into Washington, DC where she finds the answers she's looking for.
