After tearing her ACL, middle schooler Maisie has to quit ballet, which has been her passion since she was four years old. Sinking into depression, Maisie begins having issues at school, with her ballet friends, and with her mother. However, during a family road trip to visit her Makah ancestors in the Northwest, Maisie learns about her past and is able to use that knowledge to heal the divisions in her life.
