Most people lost the ability to dream years ago, and now, the Indigenous peoples of North America are the few people left who can still dream. They are soon forced into residential schools where their dreams are harvested through their bone marrow. After seventeen-year-old French loses his family to these schools, he embarks on a quest to freedom with a group of other dreamers. But when he wakes up in a pitch-black room, Frenchie knows he's been captured. Outside, his friends try to rescue Frenchie while also trying to evade the school Recruiters themselves.
