In a world where vampires have revealed their existence on live TV only to have to retreat into society's corners after outrageous public fear, Victoria and her dad are vampire-crazed, dreaming about finding one together some day. That dream becomes desperation when her father is diagnosed with terminal cancer, and Victoria decides the only way to save him is to become a vampire herself and then make him immortal, too. In new Orleans, Victoria's search leads her to the vampire Henry, who, in order to prove she loves life enough to have it forever, challenges her to a series of tasks in living life to the fullest.
