First grader Jo Jo Makoons worries that her best friend at home, her cat Mimi, may deflate when she gets her vaccinations. She also worries that her best friend at school, Fern, may not want to eat lunch with her anymore. As she navigates these crises, she celebrates her Ojibwe heritage and approaches the challenges before her by striving to help others and be friendly.
