Thirteen-year-old Ellen Katz is a lesbian and autistic, meaning she is different from most other thirteen-year-olds. That's why she has always been thankful for her best, and only, friend, Laurel, who has never made her autism an issue--but now, Ellen fears Laurel is drifting away from her.
