Mexican American Daniel was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but when he is nine years old, his family returns to Mexico. Daniel struggles to adjust to the education system in Mexico compared to school in the United States and has a hard to relating to his classmates. Soon, Daniel and his family members start working various jobs to support themselves. When Daniel is fifteen, he and his brother move back to America, and Daniel readjusts to living in the United States where he is happier with school, his friends, and his job. He continues to work hard and dreams of one day going to college or becoming a firefighter. Includes discussion questions, a glossary, and additional resources.
