But after a video of her classmate's racist abuse unleashes a media circus on Springville, student leaders decide to host the school's first integrated prom as a show of unity. The popular white class president convinces her Black superstar quarterback boyfriend to ask Maddy to be his date for the dance, but Maddy's rage will lead to deadly consequences on prom night.
