Takes viewers across Africa's major regions and into the homes of the people who live there. The eight-part series features particular Africans who tell the stories of their different regions: Alice Wangui, a Nairobi hair salon owner; Adam Ilius, a nine-year-old boy trekking with a trans-Saharan salt caravan; Xoliswa Vanda, the first female master blaster in a Johannesburg gold mine; and others whose stories entwine with the history, culture, religions, and art of the continent. Some of the people live the kinds of traditional lifestyles our stereotypes have led us to expect, while others are strikingly modern.
